Critics of Global Warming are claiming that massive droughts and floods aren’t the result of global warming.

They claim that the earth has undergone numerous shifts in climate and that it “isn’t anything new”.  But the fact that they know about past shifts in climate also demonstrates that they never bothered to UNDERSTAND anything about past shifts in climate.

Rather than get their information from legitimate sources, they are refusing to do any research on their own, and depend on such intellectual wizards as Rush Limbaugh (college drop out), Karl Rove (college drop out), Tucker Carlsen (never graduated from college), and former Vice President Cheney (flunked out of Yale TWICE.)  Local Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker didn't graduate from college either.

The earth naturally undergoes shifts from a warmer to a colder climate and then back again based on its shifting orbit around the sun.  And because there is a “wobble” in the earth, sometimes it tilts towards the sun, which should cause it to become hotter; and other times it tilts away from the sun which should cause it to become colder.

The problem is that even though the current orbit and tilt of the earth are FURTHER AWAY from the Sun, which SHOULD be causing us to have a COLDER temperature, we are actually becoming WARMER. 

This is happening because we are burning up hundreds of millions of tons of fossil fuels which had been accumulated deep under ground over millions of years, and that are now being thrown into our atmosphere over the course of the last century, creating a massive greenhouse gas effect, throwing our CO2 levels and other hydrocarbon gas levels in the atmosphere to much higher levels than what had allowed normal, balanced environmental conditions.

That also indicates that when we start tilting closer to the Sun, and enter a closer orbit around the sun, that we will be experiencing EVEN WARMER TEMPERATURES and even more devastating climate effects.

They claim that we aren’t warming because we have had increased snow fall.  But the fact that we are warming IS resulting in increased snow fall.  As ICE AND SNOW MELT in the polar ice caps, they put more moisture into the atmosphere, and as the temperature gets cold enough to form snow, more snowfall will be recorded.  They ignore the fact that temperatures in the poles are normally in the tens of degrees to 100 degrees below zero, and that it only takes 32 degrees ABOVE zero to freeze moisture in the air and form snow.  The problem is that the snowfall doesn't remain in the polar icecaps, but rather are falling in areas further away from the poles.

The fact that there are warmer and warmer temperatures being experienced, not just around the equator, but further and further north into colder climates, is causing huge reservoirs and lakes to drop in elevation, because of evaporation.  And as a result of that continued evaporation, more water in the air means more rain!

There are lakes and SEAS in other countries which have totally DISAPPEARED, because of manmade and environmental causes.  Lake Michigan is dropping in its level.

Natural lakes in the Madison area are evaporating to alarming levels.  The beltline along the southern border of Madison used to run OVER a large expanse of open water.  It is now over dry swamp land.

The water being held back by the Hoover Dam in Nevada has dropped in normal levels by about 20 feet or more.

This isn’t just about increased consumption of the water, but because of higher temperatures, causing increased evaporation AND flash floods as a result.

The polar ice caps are melting at alarming rates, and glaciers the size of entire STATES, are falling into the ocean, raising the ocean levels.

Rich Republicans should be concerned about that, since, as this continues, their ocean front property will continue to be swallowed up by the higher ocean levels, and their property won’t be worth a dime.

But let’s just keep calling these disasters, natural events caused by God, so that the insurance companies won’t have to pay for your losses.

Record high snowfalls, rainfalls and floods across the globe are occurring.

      Contrary to the naysayers, these ARE indications of climate change.  Record high rainfalls and snowfalls are a result of more water being IN THE AIR.  That occurs as a result of polar ice, which had been tied up in glaciers, now melting, and more moisture going into the atmosphere, which causes higher volume rain and snow falls.

      So, when you flood in areas that aren’t used to flooding; and snow in areas that aren’t used to having snow at all, remember that this IS due to climate change.

      Volcanic eruptions which threw millions of tons of dirt and debris into the atmosphere, blocking the rays of the sun, have triggered Ice Ages in the past, an extreme result of excessive air pollution.

      And also remember, that the longer it takes for us to DO something to reverse this trend, the WORSE it will get before it gets better.

      Using the energy we DO have, more efficiently; and conserving it so it ISN’T used unnecessarily, and contribute to climate change, needs to be our priority and our focus, so we can lead the world in alternative, renewable and sustainable energy which can provide for our needs far into the future, without bankrupting us at the same time.

      But if you would prefer to get flooded, or snowbound, or endangered by “natural” events that continue to worsen and increase in damage and casualties….well, it’s your choice.
